Winter is coming!

Blog Post: I went outside last night to get the mail and after shutting the door to the mailbox, I was hit in the face with dust and cold wind. Blah!! That was a reminder that I wanted to pass along to everyone else that it is time to get the heater checked out. I would recommend turning your heater on and let it run for about 5 to 10 minutes to make sure it will even start. If you try this and you do not get any heat, then you need to schedule one of our technicians to come out. We can service and check the unit for $80 and if you would like we can talk with you about a service contract. This is a twice a year check where Sinclair will come out and service your unit before the summer and winter seasons start. This runs $139.50 for one system, you get a discount for replacement parts, and much more.... Breakfast Casserole
(serves 8)

1 lb sausage, cooked
6 slices white bread
1 cup grated longhorn cheese
1 cup milk or (2 cups half & half)
6-10 eggs
1 tsp each salt & dry mustard

Cook sausage and crumble; drain. Cut crust from bread and discard. Toast bread lightly and butter bread and cut in cubes. Put cubed toast in bottom of greased 9x13 casserole dish. Top with sausage. Mix the rest of ingredients except cheese. Pour the egg mixture over sausage and top with cheese. Cover and refrigerate for at least 8 hours or over night. Bake at 350 for 40 to 50 minutes or until browned slightly.

R-22 Phase Out

What is the R-22 phase out? After 2010, chemical manufacturers may still produce R-22 to service existing equipment, but not for use in new equipment.

Who will it affect? You as the customer and unfortunately the environment, releases of R-22, such as those from leaks, contribute to ozone depletion. In addition, R-22 is a greenhouse gas and the manufacture of R-22 results in a by-product (HFC-23) that contributes significantly to global warming.

What will happen? As a result, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) system manufacturers will only be able to use pre-existing supplies of R-22 to produce new air conditioners and heat pumps. These existing supplies would include R-22 recovered from existing equipment and recycled.

Why is this happening? HCFCs (R-22) are less damaging to the ozone layer than CFC's, but still contain ozone-destroying chlorine. The Montreal Protocol as amended is carried out in the U.S. through Title VI of the Clean Air Act, which is implemented by EPA.

Lazy Lasagna

1 ¼ lb. ground beef or turkey

32 oz. jar spaghetti sauce (any combination of flavor)

1 lb. cottage cheese (low-fat is fine)

8 oz. dairy sour cream (light is fine)

8 oz. uncooked lasagna noodles

3 pks (6 oz. each) sliced mozzarella cheese (12 slices total)

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

1-cup water

Cook meat in large skillet over medium-high heat until meat is brown, stirring to separate meat; drain fat; add spaghetti sauce. Reduce heat to low. Heat through, stirring occasionally; set aside. Combine cottage cheese and sour cream in medium bowl; blend well.

Spoon 1 ½ cups of the meat sauce in bottom of 13 x 9 inch pan. Place ½ of the uncooked noodles over sauce, then ½ of the cottage cheese mixture, 4 slices of the mozzarella, ½ of the remaining meat sauce and ¼ cup of the Parmesan cheese. Repeat layers starting with the noodles. Top with remaining 4 slices of mozzarella cheese. Pour water around the sides of the pan. Cover tightly with foil. Bake in preheated 350-degree oven one (1) hour. Uncover; bake 20 minutes more or until bubbly. Let stand 15 to 20 minutes. Garnish as desired. Makes 8 to 10 servings.
